A Message From Principal Leach

Welcome Back, Falcon Families! My name is Mr. Leach and I have the privilege of being your child's principal at JLMS. I am new to the school this year and look forward to working with the staff and students to make this year GREAT!

We opened the year with an assembly in the gym, did a little "Falcon Flop" (to the chicken dance song) and kicked off the year. This week has been as smooth as it could have been- thanks for your patience as we launched new schedules for every student and made sure that class placements were accurate.

We are working this year to provide a meaningful experience for all of our students. Please let me know if you have any cares, concerns, or compliments for me as the year rolls on. The students have been great and it is nice to see everything in action here at JLMS. Our club/athletics info will be sent out next week to all families via the Falcon Flyer as well.

Respectfully Yours,

Mr. Leach

Staff Showcase - Welcome Margo Turner!
Each week we will feature a new staff member at John Long Middle School.  We are excited to introduce Margo Turner!

Hello!  My name is Margo Turner and I'm honored to be joining this wonderful team of teachers in Grafton as a Speech-Language Pathologist at JLMS and GHS.

After graduating from UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee, I enjoyed working with middle school students and also with children in a Birth-To-Three program.

I live in Menomonee Falls and I have two daughters that are entering 1st and 2nd grade.

I'm very excited to be in Grafton, to collaborate with teachers, to get to know students and parents, and to explore new resources and technology.  I believe that good communication between teachers & families is an integral part of a successful education.  I'm looking forward to a great school year!  Please call or email me anytime with comments, questions, or concerns!

Join the Biggest "Group"

Welcome back to another exciting year at John Long Middle School. Now is your opportunity to become a member of the biggest “group” at this school by joining a choir of your choice. If you’ve never tried it before, it’s not too late to try. If you think you can’t sing, you may soon be surprising yourself and others. Grade level choirs at John Long meet on alternate days during students’ Academic Support hour. These are the largest groups in the school and students learn a great deal not only about singing, but about being a part of something much larger than themselves.

The school also offers two morning choirs for any student. They are:

  • The Cambiata - a choir for all 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:00a.m. in the choir room. Come and give it a try with the many other young dedicated men. This choir starts on September 26th.
  • The Treble Choir - an all girl group for 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls that meets on Thursday mornings at 7:00a.m. This choir starts on September 27th.
  • The John Long Middle School Chorale is an auditioned group of 7th and 8th graders that meets on Tuesday mornings at 7:00am. Auditions will be held September 17-21 in the mornings. Auditions sign-ups are posted on the choir board. Good luck in your audition for this group – it is always competitive.

Come and be a part of the morning groups starting the week of September 26-27, or join a grade-level choir any day your choir meets. If you have any questions, please stop and speak with Mr. Arendt or call/email me at any time. Thank you.

Mr. Doug Arendt
