Staff Showcase - Welcome Michelle Behl!

Hello!  My name is Michelle Behl; this year I’m teaching 8th grade Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop, as well as one section of Science.  I’m excited to be teaching in a new school and working with the great teachers at John Long Middle School!

I grew up in Watertown, WI, attended Watertown High School, then went to Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee.  I spent a year substitute teaching in Waukesha and last year I taught 8th grade at Waterloo Middle School.  My hobbies include waterskiing, running, and reading.

I’m looking forward to the rest of the school year and watching my students grow as readers, writers, and scientists!  Please email or call me anytime with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Join the Biggest "Group"

Welcome back to another exciting year at John Long Middle School. Now is your opportunity to become a member of the biggest “group” at this school by joining a choir of your choice. If you’ve never tried it before, it’s not too late to try. If you think you can’t sing, you may soon be surprising yourself and others. Grade level choirs at John Long meet on alternate days during students’ Academic Support hour. These are the largest groups in the school and students learn a great deal not only about singing, but about being a part of something much larger than themselves.

The school also offers two morning choirs for any student. They are:

  • The Cambiata - a choir for all 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:00a.m. in the choir room. Come and give it a try with the many other young dedicated men. This choir starts on September 26th.
  • The Treble Choir - an all girl group for 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls that meets on Thursday mornings at 7:00a.m. This choir starts on September 27th.
  • The John Long Middle School Chorale is an auditioned group of 7th and 8th graders that meets on Tuesday mornings at 7:00am. Auditions will be held September 17-21 in the mornings. Auditions sign-ups are posted on the choir board. Good luck in your audition for this group – it is always competitive.

Come and be a part of the morning groups starting the week of September 26-27, or join a grade-level choir any day your choir meets. If you have any questions, please stop and speak with Mr. Arendt or call/email me at any time. Thank you.

Mr. Doug Arendt
