7th Grade World Issues Fair

The seventh grade is hosting a World Issues Fair to celebrate the work our English classes have been doing for the last month or so. Seventh graders have been studying a world issue or problem (such as education for girls in Pakistan, the conflict in Syria, lack of water in Africa, etc.) and have created a policy brief about that issue. They will be presenting this information to the JLMS community (and parents) to bring awareness to the problem and let people know how they can help.

When: Tuesday, February 25 during 9th hour (2:30-3:15)

Where: Multi-purpose room and library at John Long Middle School

Our seventh graders have been working extremely hard on this project and are excited for this chance to share their projects. The purpose of our unit was not simply to learn about a problem or an issue, but to teach others about that problem. Therefore, we would love to see as many faculty, parents, staff and other students present as possible.

Each visitor to the fair will be given a ticket that represents ‘money’ that can be donated to one group’s issue. The seventh grade will be hosting a fundraiser, and ultimately, a donation will be made on behalf of the seventh grade at JLMS to somebody’s world issue!

We are also adding in a bake sale fundraiser to this year’s World Issue Fair.  If you are willing to donate an item to the bake sale, please go to the link and sign up using the Google Form.  The baked items will be sold to visitors on the day of the World Issue Fair.  The money raised from the bake sale will also be donated to one of the world issues presented.  Your willingness to donate to the bake sale would be greatly appreciated.  Donated items may be homemade or store bought.  An email reminder with information for drop off will be sent to the people that sign up two days prior to the World Issues Fair. Please complete the form to donate by February 20th. If you have any questions regarding the bake sale, please contact Christy Loeffler at cloeffer@grafton.k12.wi.us

If you have any questions or concerns, please email one of us!Thank you so much! We hope to see you on February 25th!
