Cell Phone Policy at John Long

Help JLMS to stay “tech distraction” free. Remove the temptation and focus on your learning. Keep cell phones in your lockers- cell phones are not allowed in class.

  • Cell phones are to be left in LOCKERS. They can be checked at lunch and lunch time only, but will be left in your lockers.

  • IF teachers would like cell phones in class, they will indicate them as a one-class exception.

  • Teachers reserve the right to take cell phones from students and store them in the office if need be.

  • Everyone has a computer. They should use those devices for searches and research in class, reading with kindles, tablets, iPads and nooks can be approved by the teacher. Cell phones are NOT a device appropriate for reading in class.

  • At the end of the day, cell phones may be used as usual.

  • At all school events and activities, cell phones should not be used to take pictures without expressed AGREEMENT of picture by both students. Use common sense and good judgement as you get into pictures and/or take them.

1st offense- Teachers will collect the phone on first offense. They will return it to the student and have student place in locker.

2nd offense- Teachers will collect until end of day for return from the office.

3rd offense- Teachers will contact the office for collection.

Some students may be placed on a turn-in list that collects their cell phones at the door when they arrive each day. This is the exceptional circumstance. Do not be the exception.

It is simple- KEEP YOUR CELL IN YOUR LOCKER.

ANY QUESTIONS, contact the office please.
