An Important Message from Coach Kolstad and the Grafton Gridiron Club
Published on Mar 13, 2014 16:28

Hello Grafton,

On behalf of our new varsity football coach, Andy Kolstad, the Grafton Gridiron Club, the Gladiators and the Grafton Cheer Team I am sending this message for your consideration…

1st - The first annual “Grafton Grind” is up and running smoothly with 80+ kids attending the 6:00 a.m. workouts with the Varsity Football Coaches everyMondayTuesday and Thursday. We just completed our fourth week and the number of athletes continues to grow; considering how early we start and how difficult this winter has been, it is a real testament to the desire and commitment these young athletes have to building quality athletic programs in Grafton. So far, the Grind has been open only to all 8th - 11th grade students, however, this week the 6th & 7th grade students joined the Grind to learn the basics of strength and speed training…I’ve been told they had a lot of fun in their first workout!

Check out the action yourself with this video:  GRAFTON GRIND 2014 VIDEO

2nd - Coach Kolstad is planning a “Black Hawk Football” mini camp this summer, to be held on Monday, July 14th through Thursday, July 17th and on Friday, July 18th we will host the first ever “Black Hawk Day” at the High School. Additional details will follow but the intent is to include the Gladiators & the Cheer Team during this all day event and invite all those who support the Grafton Black Hawks, the Gladiators & the Cheer Team to join us for a tailgate party that evening…please SAVE THE DATE.

3rd - The Grafton Gridiron Club hosts its’ annual Golf Outing at Fire Ridge Golf Course. The Golf Outing is the primary fundraising event of the year for the GGC and has historically occurred on the last Friday of July. In order to coincide with the new Black Hawk week in July, we have moved the date of the Golf Outing to Saturday, July 19th…please SAVE THE DATE! This Golf Outing is going to be a great event at the end of a very special week for our community. (Note: If you are interested in volunteering for the planning & coordination of this event, please email me your contact information - we will begin meeting soon)

Lastly, I want to share with you the importance of fundraising…it is simply a necessity for all athletic programs. We want to take care of our kids and provide them the opportunity to maximize their potential. The Grafton Gridiron Club is the financial support system for our football and cheer programs and having said that, we ask you to please consider making a donation to The Grafton Gridiron Club in order to support our efforts.

Here are our immediate needs

1.  Grafton Grind Gear (workout shirts & shorts) for over 100 kids…we are currently at 105!

(note: we are purchasing rewards for athletes that have great attendance)

2.  Weight room equipment - as the Grind participation increases, there is a need to add just a few items to the fantastic setup that already exists, however, we desperately need to replace the dumbbells!

In closing, we are asking for some financial support from the families and friends of the Grafton Community…no amount is too small or too large…$5, $10 or $20 from those of you that can afford it will go a long way towards helping us take care of our dedicated athletes and run first-class programs in Grafton.

On behalf of all of the students & athletes you support, Thank you
