There is also a simple project we would like each student to complete. Please encourage your child to decorate the map and write how they can take a stand for a drug-free land. Ozaukee Wave Volleyball Informational Meeting

PARENT/PLAYER INFORMATIONAL MEETING 2012-13 SEASON

Sunday,October 14, 2012, at 12 noon.   In Grafton HS cafeteria.  The meeting generally lasts about an hour.

PURPOSE:  explain and discuss the 2012-13 club season.  Ozaukee Wave VBC is planning on offering teams at the 12’s through 17’s levels. Fifth graders are welcome to try out with the 12’s.

A Badger Region medical release form, concussion agreement form and personal information form will be handed out at the meeting to be completed at that time.  Parents/guardian and player signatures are required on some of these forms.

Badger Region rules require the Badger Region/USA membership registration must be completed before players are allowed to participate in tune-up clinics, tryouts or any other club activities (if you were a member of Badger Region last season, you’re membership is good until October 31, 2012). This registration needs to be done online.  Go to www.badgervolleyball.org to complete your registration for 2012-13. There are two choices:  A $10 tryout membership (only good for five times from October 1 through November 30, 2012).  A $47 full junior membership for the whole 2012-13 season (no refund).  Suggestion:  sign up for the full membership.  Full membership entitles you to attend unlimited tryouts.   A copy of your membership card form must be turned in to the club director at the meeting or before the tune-up clinics or tryouts.

Tryouts for 12’s, 13’s and 14’s are scheduled for Saturday & Sunday, October 20 and 21.  Tryouts for 15’s, 16’s and 17’s are schedule for Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11.   Additional tryouts on November 17 and 18 if necessary.  Tryout times will be announced at the meeting.  They will also be posted on Ozaukee Wave VBC website sometime in October.

There is aone-time $20 tryout fee payable at time of tryouts to Ozaukee Wave VBC.  Please arrive half hour before your scheduled tryout time in order to check in.

All four forms—Badger Region/USA registration card,Badger Region medical release form, concussion agreement and Ozaukee Wave VBCpersonal information form must be completed and turned in before you can tryout or attend any tune-up clinics.

All practices and tournaments are on weekends.  Please check our website periodically for updated information at:  www.ozwavevbc.com

Any questions please contact:  Dante De La Pasqua, Club Director at ddelapasqua@wi.rr.com

TUNE-UP CLINICS AT GRAFTON HS ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:  October 28, November 3 and 4.  Times TBA at meeting and on our website.

A one-time $20 tune-up clinic fee payable to Ozaukee Wave is due at first clinic attended.  Each clinic will be approximately one and a half hours in length. Because of early tryout dates for younger teams, clinics are only offered for 15’s, 16’s & 17’s.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT PLAYERS WHO RECEIVE AN OFFER FROM ANY CLUB HAVE UNTIL EITHER TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13 (FOR PLAYERS WHO PLAYED THE PREVIOUS SEASON WITH THE CLUB MAKING THE OFFER)OR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15 (ALL OTHER PLAYERS) TO ACCEPT OR REJECT IT.  THEY ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO ACCEPT THE OFFER AT THE TIME IT IS BEING MADE.  THIS GIVES PLAYERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRY OUT WITH OTHER CLUBS WHO HAVE LATER TRYOUT DATES BEFORE MAKING A DECISION.    A CLUB MAKING AN OFFER IS BOUND TO THAT OFFER UNTIL IT IS EITHER ACCEPTED, REJECTED OR ONE OF THE ABOVE DATES OCCURS.

Stars and Strips Honor Flight Essay Contest

Stars and Stripes Honor Flight has an extremely exciting opportunity available for our middle and high school students.

The primary mission of SSHF is flying WWII veterans to see their memorials in Washington DC.  But we also work closely with schools throughout Wisconsin to ensure that the heroic stories of our veterans are told so that future generations will fully appreciate the sacrifices made on their behalf.

To that end...we want to pilot an essay contest program, and we have chosen the Grafton School District for our pilot.

Students who wish to participate, will research a WWII veteran from Wisconsin who is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Each student will be paired with a teacher/mentor who can help guide their research. The Media Specialist at JLMS (Lynn Slowiak) and GHS (Steve Midthun) have agreed to help mentor students, but any teacher is eligible.

The winning student/mentor pair will be invited to join us on our November 3rd Honor Flight and while at Arlington, the student will read a eulogy dedicated to their veteran.

Get all the guidelines here and Good Luck!
